Crowment for site owners

Add a comment section to your site and run it from one console. These guides are for site owners and the people who moderate with them.

Crowment is an embeddable comment system. You add one script and one tag to your pages, and your readers get threaded comments with likes, replies, images and notifications. You run everything from the Site Console, where an AI reads new comments before they go live and you decide on the ones it is unsure about.

How the pieces fit

Comment widget

The <crow-comments> element on your pages. It loads the right thread for each page, follows your site's light or dark look, and shows its interface in your readers' language.

Site Console

Your control room: create widgets, moderate comments, tune the AI, invite moderators and manage your plan.

User Console

Your readers' own space: the comments they wrote, what they liked, their notifications and their profile.

Crowment account

One account for everyone. You sign in to the Site Console with it, and readers sign in to comment with it, or with your site's own accounts through single sign-on.

Key terms

  • Widget: one comment section setup for one domain, such as example.com. Each widget has its own app key, comments, team, rules and settings. Your plan sets how many widgets you can have.
  • App key: the identifier in your embed code. It tells the widget which of your widgets it belongs to. It appears in your page source, so it is not a secret.
  • Page and thread: every page on your site gets its own thread of comments. By default a page is identified by its URL path; Installation explains how to change that.
  • Roles: every widget has one owner and can have admins and moderators. See Team and roles.
