Moderating comments
Open Site Console → your widget → Comments & Moderation. Every member of the widget's team can use it: owners, admins and moderators.
The page has two halves: the comment list on the left and the open comment on the right. On small screens the comment opens in a panel.
Find comments
- Tabs. Pending (the default) holds the comments waiting for a decision. Rejected holds rejected comments. All shows every comment, published ones included.
- Sort. Order by Created At, Updated At or Like Count, newest or oldest first.
- Search. Choose User ID or Comment ID, type the ID and press ↵. Clear the search with the × button. You can copy both IDs from a comment's options menu in the widget, which helps when a reader writes to you about a specific comment.
Each comment in the list shows its status and, if the AI scored it, a badge per category. A red badge means the score is above that category's reject threshold, an amber one above review, and a gray one below both.
Read a comment
Selecting a comment opens it with everything you need to decide:
- The page. The header shows your domain and the page path. View source opens the page on your site.
- The comment. Show all thread (T) shows it inside its whole conversation, which often decides whether a sharp reply is out of line.
- AI sentiment. The AI's verdict (No action needed, Needs review, Reject recommended or Ban recommended), a short reason, and the scores per category. The flag breakdown compares the scores with your current thresholds, which may differ from the ones in force when the comment was reviewed. The footer shows how the review ended (for example Rejected by AI or Auto-approved at deadline), the detected language and the verdict.
- Trust profile. The author's trust score, approval rate, account age, and how many of their comments were approved and rejected. See trust scores.
Decide
The toolbar under the comment shows who you are reviewing and three actions:
| Action | Key | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Approve | A | Publishes the comment. The author gains trust. |
| Reject | R | Hides the comment. The author loses trust. It is deleted for good after your retention window. |
| Ban User | B | Stops the author commenting on this widget. See Banning commenters. |
After you approve or reject, the next comment opens by itself. On the Pending tab, decided comments leave the list. You can change your mind: an approved comment can still be rejected, and a rejected one approved.
Keyboard shortcuts
On large screens the shortcuts are shown next to their buttons.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| ↑ ↓ | Previous or next comment in the list |
| A | Approve |
| R | Reject |
| B | Ban or unban the author |
| T | Show or hide the whole thread |
Share a comment with your team
The address bar follows the open comment (…/moderate?comment=COMMENT_ID). Send that link to a teammate and it opens the same comment for them.
Pin a comment
Owners, admins and moderators can put one top-level comment on top of a page. In the widget on your site, signed in with your team account, open the comment's ⋯ menu and choose Pin. It moves to the top of the page with a Pinned label, whatever the sort order.
Pinning another comment on the same page replaces it, and Unpin in the same menu takes it down. Only approved top-level comments can be pinned; replies cannot.
