Appearance and language
Try it in the live preview
Site Console → your widget → Install & Embed has a live preview. Change the settings on the left and the preview and the embed code update together:
- Language
- Preferred Light Theme and Preferred Dark Theme
- Force a Theme
- Watch Query Parameters and Watch URL Hash (see Installation)
When it looks right, select Copy and replace the embed code on your pages.
Light and dark, automatically
The widget looks at the background color behind it: the nearest element with a visible background, up to <html>. On a light background it uses light-theme, on a dark one dark-theme. It keeps watching, so when your site switches between light and dark mode, the widget switches too.
Without these attributes the widget uses the themes named light and dark. To choose your own pair:
<crow-comments app-key="YOUR_APP_KEY" light-theme="winter" dark-theme="dracula"></crow-comments>
One theme everywhere
force-theme always uses the theme you name, whatever the background, and turns detection off:
<crow-comments app-key="YOUR_APP_KEY" force-theme="cupcake"></crow-comments>
Themes
Install & Embed always shows the current list with color swatches. Today there are 35:
light · acid · autumn · bumblebee · caramellatte · cmyk · corporate · cupcake · cyberpunk · emerald · fantasy · garden · lemonade · lofi · nord · pastel · retro · silk · valentine · winter · wireframe
dark · abyss · aqua · black · business · coffee · dim · dracula · forest · halloween · luxury · night · sunset · synthwave
Language
lang sets the language of the widget's interface: buttons, labels and messages.
| Language | lang |
|---|---|
| English (default) | en |
| Español | es |
| Português (Brasil) | pt-BR |
| Türkçe | tr |
Without lang the widget uses English; it does not follow the reader's browser. On a multilingual site, set lang from the language of each page.
Comments are always shown as their authors wrote them. The AI moderation reads comments in any language and records the language it detected.
